HOW VIGILANTE KILLED EX-GIRLFRIEND IN DELTA FOR DUMPING HIM
DETAILS yesterday emerged on the circumstances surrounding the death of a female indigene of Effurun-Otor community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State that led to last Saturday’s rampage by youths in the community.
The victim, Glory Freeborn, was allegedly shot dead in close range by persons suspected to be members of the community vigilance outfit. The traditional ruler of the community, HRM Duku II who also fled his palace during the melee, suffered some causality as a result of the rampage as the youths invaded his palace damaging cars and other items in his palace after they accused him of giving moral support to the vigilante outfit.
Giving details on what transpired by the suspect and the victim, a resident of the community, stated that the circumstance that led to the death of Glory, was as a result of a relationship gone sour.
The source, Akpokiniovo Clevis, said: “Glory left Oboke Shaka (the suspect) two years ago for a new guy who she got pregnant for. On Saturday, she had gone to meet members of the vigilante to release her brother who was arrested when she was accosted by Oboke who still apparently angry with her for ditching him, shot her in close range. “This led to the burning down of houses belonging to members of the community vigilante outfit by the youths in protest of their actions.”
Though uneasy calm has been restored to the community following the presence of soldiers and policemen drafted to the area, buildings torched by the youths as witnessed when Vanguard visited the community, Monday, include the office of the community vigilante outfit and over five buildings belonging to members of the outfit while the windscreen of some cars in the palace of the monarch were also damaged after he fled before the arrival of the youths.
