KWARA: POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED FEMALE RITUALIST … School uniforms, textbooks, money of different denominations found in her possession

Kwara State Police Command on Thursday arrested a suspected middle-aged female ritualist, Nigerian Tribune reports.

Members of the Kulende community, who said that they had suspected activities of the woman who lived in a shanty, said that she was sighted giving some items suspected to be human parts to a driver of an SUV Jeep that parked near her in the middle of the night.

Speaking on the development a resident of the Kulende community in the Zango area of the Ilorin metropolis, Mr Kudus Saheed, said the suspect had lived in a shanty on the roadside for about three years.


Mr Kudus explained that when members of the vigilance team in the community tried to find out what she was giving the driver, the occupant zoomed off.


He also said that the suspect could not explain how she got the incriminating items in her possession when asked.


The Police statement reads: “Intelligence available to the Command prompted the surveillance mounted around the area which was the base of the suspected ritualist led to her arrest today 17/3/2022 at about 0600hrs.”


“In the process of her arrest, a man in a black SUV Jeep found with the suspect zoomed off immediately he noticed the presence of the police. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing man.”


“In course of the arrest, school uniforms, notebooks, textbooks and money of different denominations totalling N166,700:00 was found in her possession.”


However, Police said that the suspect, during interrogation stated that the man who met with her at the time of the arrest came to have sex with her and to give her water.


The statement said that the state commissioner of Police, Mr Tuesday Assayomo, has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter and directed that the suspect be taken to the hospital to ascertain the condition of her mental health.
