POLICE ARREST TWO MEN FOR CYBER ‘FRAUD’

Two men identified as Salami Olaide and Olamide Adeyemi have been arrested by the police in Lagos for alleged cyber crime and possession of hard drugs.

The suspects were arrested on Sunday around Opebi Link Bridge, Ikeja, by policemen from Area F Command.

According to the police, the suspects who drove a saloon car with registration number KSF462FT, had a female occupant with them when they were flagged down by operatives on pin down patrol.

Olamide, the police said, opened a Facebook account where he posed as a female named Sharon and allegedly defrauded on Daniel Nix, an American of iPhone and dollars.

“Olaide on the other hand, has an online platform known as Grant which he operates under the name Frank. He is posing as an agent of the company responsible for giving loans and assistance to people online.”

“Once an applicant fills the form online and pays registration fees, he blocks the victim. There are lots of innocent Nigerians who became victims of such fraud.”

“There is no evidence so far, linking the female arrested with them to their nefarious activities.”

“Victims of such fraud are enjoined to report at Area F Command Headquarters, Ikeja with evidence of transactions between them and the suspects. The suspects will soon be charged to court,” said spokesman Bala Elkana in a statement on Sunday.

Elkana also said the command arrested a guard Milacasup Jackson and his accomplices for allegedly stealing a Toyota Sienna vehicle belonging to his employer Adeyankinnu Babajide.

He said Jackson, Peter Alfons and Mustapha Usman were arrested on December 18, at Kurata Mechanic Village, Agidingbi, Ikeja while negotiating for a buyer for the vehicle valued at N2.6m.

According to Elkana, their arrests followed a complaint at Alausa Division by Babajide, a resident of 7, Fagba Close, Agidingbi, that he discovered the vehicle was missing and the guard who had the keys has not been seen.

“The vehicle was recovered and handed over to the owner while the suspects were charged to Magistrate Court 12, Ogba and were remanded in prison custody,” he said.
