OPC chief in police custody over alleged student murder
The deceased person, said to be a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka campus in the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, was killed at about 9.30 pm on Wednesday by bullets allegedly fired by some OPC men led by Olorunfemi.
The corpse of the deceased person was dumped behind College Demonstration School.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said a commercial motorcyclist who witnessed the killing of his passenger reported the incident at the Anaye Police Station in Uro Quarters of the town.
The report of the alleged murder led to the arrest of Olorunfemi, who was detained at the station before he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Confirming the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdullahi Chafe, said one person had been arrested in connection with the murder.
Chafe said, “I can confirm that such an incident occurred, one person has been arrested and he will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations.
The corpse has been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital, along Ise Road, Ikere-Ekiti.
