A woman identified as Blessing William has been found dead in her apartment in Rumalogu, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Punch Newspaper reports.
A source who pleaded anonymity told Saturday PUNCH that the single mother who lived in the Ogbumbada compound had been going through hard times.
She stated, “This (Thursday) morning I was in my house when the son was passing by. So, my mum called him and asked how his mum was and he said his mom was fine.”
“She then told the boy to go home, have his bath, and come back so that she would give him some money to get something for himself and his mother.”
“It was 20 minutes later that the boy rushed back and said he had been calling his mum but she wasn’t answering. I followed him and truly, his mum was dead. For three days, we had been the ones feeding them.”
The woman’s death came after the body of a female student of the University of Port Harcourt was found dead in her apartment in the Aluu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
It also came weeks after the decomposing body of a female student of the university, Justina Otuene, was reportedly found in her ex-lover’s apartment in Ozuoba in Obio/Akpor.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, on the latest incident proved abortive as she could not be reached on her mobile phone.
She had also yet to respond to a text message sent to her as of the time of filing the report on Friday afternoon.
