5 EVERYDAY HABITS THAT MAY BE DAMAGING YOUR KIDNEYS

Contents
Despite the importance, many people unknowingly engage in habits that may gradually damage the kidney over time. For this reason, individuals are expected to adopt healthy lifestyle habits.
In this article, Tribune Online highlights five everyday habits that may be damaging your kidneys.
Taking painkillers too often
Frequent and prolonged use of certain painkillers, particularly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), may affect kidney function over time.
While these medicines can be effective for pain relief, excessive use may reduce blood flow to the kidneys and increase the risk of kidney damage, especially among people with existing kidney problems.
Drinking too little water
Adequate hydration helps the kidneys to remove waste products from the body efficiently. Consistently drinking insufficient amounts of water may increase the risk of kidney stones and other kidney-related problems, particularly in hot climates where fluid loss through sweating is common.
Consuming too much salt
A diet high in salt can lead to high blood pressure, which is one of the leading causes of kidney disease. Excessive sodium intake may also place additional strain on the kidneys, making it harder for them to function properly.
Ignoring high blood pressure and diabetes
Hypertension and diabetes are among the leading causes of chronic kidney disease worldwide. People who do not properly manage these conditions may gradually experience damage to the blood vessels and filtering units within the kidneys.
Smoking
Smoking affects blood circulation throughout the body, including blood flow to the kidneys.Smoking increases the risk of kidney disease and can worsen existing kidney conditions.
