Mr. Sunday Nwakanze has allegedly lured his brother-in-law, Mr. ThankGod Adiegbuo, into a kidnappers’ den at Abagana in the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to Vanguard Newspaper, in a viral video, Adiegbuo described his miraculous escape and explained how Nwakanze, his wife’s brother and a former schoolmate, had been persistently calling him after they exchanged numbers. Eventually, Adiegbuo agreed to visit him, only to find himself in danger.
Adiegbuo recounted: “He told me he was building a house near Abagana Girls Secondary School. I followed the directions and drove to the area, which turned out to be a shrine. While I wasn’t afraid, people appeared with guns and ordered me to lie down.”
The kidnappers robbed him of his belongings, including his ATM card, from which they withdrew N150,000. They tied and blindfolded him, with Nwakanze reassuring him he would be fine. However, Adiegbuo overheard them plotting to kill him to prevent exposure.
Taking advantage of an opportunity, he managed to untie himself, climbed a staircase, and jumped into another compound to escape. His car remains with the kidnappers, and he pleaded to be guided to a nearby police station to report the incident.
When contacted, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that no such complaint had been filed with the command.
