A young man identified as Dominic was on Tuesday reported to have killed his mother in Makurdi, Benue State capital.
The incident was said to have happened around Modern Market area of the capital city.
A source told our correspondent that Dominic was though an intelligent young man but said to be a trouble maker and who always foment trouble with people in the neighborhood.
According to the source who simply identified himself as Dan, he said that on Tuesday, Dominic was quarreling with one of his sisters in the presence of their mother, which later turned to a big fight.
The source added that as they fought, Dominic who had rage in his face, allegedly went into the house, brought out a knife and threatened to stab his sister with it.
At this point, the mother who had seen the anger in her son’s eyes and believed he could do as threatened stood up to separate the fight but slumped and died on the spot.
Dominic who was said to be an artisan engaged in the business of repairing phones but later took to filling of potholes around modern market area.
The Spokesperson for the state command, Catherine Anene, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said Dominic was already in Police custody.
She said, “Information received is that the boy did not touch his mother. His usual troubles at home affected his mother and gave her a health condition that led to her death.”
