NSCDC ARRESTS MAN, 35 FOR ALLEGEDLY RAPING A 9-YEAR OLD GIRL IN ILESA
AUTHORITIES of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State command have arrested a 35 year old man, identified as Friday Kanu, a native of Idiba in Calabar South local government area of Cross River State for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a minor, Pelumi Oluwole, who is nine years old.
Friday who resides at Igbogi street, Ilesa, Osun State, claimed to be a bricklayer and commercial motorcycle confessed to having raped the minor, the younger sister of his wife under the influence of mixed alcoholic drinks.
He explained that he had once had carnal knowledge of the little girl while they were living at Imadin community, Ilaje area of Ilesa before the recent one that occurred on the 18th March 2019 at his residence in Igbogi.
According to Friday, he took advantage of the absence of his wife who travelled to perpetuate the nefarious act, adding that he was not in his right frame of mind at the moment the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, the wife in her statement narrated how she met Friday who then promised to take care of her and her siblings, saying she came across him when she lost her mother to stroke in 2016 and became homeless since the father was nowhere to be found.
She, however, added that Friday’s attitude and behaviour became irregular since the time he got an accident and sustained head injury which made them sell off most of their belongings in the bid to access medical treatment.
The victim, Pelumi Oluwole who admitted that Friday Kanu had carnal knowledge of her had been taken by the NSCDC personnel to Wesley Hospital, Ilesa for medical attention.
The NSCDC maintained that Friday would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation into the matter.
