FRIENDSHIP TURNED SOUR AS MAN KILLS FRIEND OVER DISAGREEMENT

A minor disagreement between two friends over a sewing machine has led to the death of a 20 years old Babangida Umar who was allegedly stabbed around the neck by his close friend, Sadique Ahmed at Zango area of Bauchi metropolis.

Reports have it that Sadique Ahmed who is a tailor allegedly stabbed his friend, Babangida Umar on the neck thereby leading to his death because he (the deceased) was said to have taken his (Sadique’s) sewing machine without his express permission to do so.

The incidence has been confirmed by the Bauchi Police Command Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP Kamal Abubakar, who disclosed that it happened on the 5th January 2019 saying that already three suspects including the prime suspect, Sadique Ahmed have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Datti Abubabakar who gave the names of the suspects as 25 years old Mamman Adamu, 20 years old Sadique Ahmed and 18 years old Adamu Isa, said that investigations into the incident had since begun.

While speaking to newsmen on the incident the father of the deceased, Umar Mohammed said that he was at the market square when one of his children came and broke the sad news to him.

He explained that “I was sitting with my friends at the market after the Sahur prayers on that Saturday when the younger brother of the deceased ran to meet me and told me that I should come home because ‘Sara Suka’ (political thugs) have killed Babangida. They thought it was the Sara Suka boys from another area that attacked him”.

He narrated further that: “Immediately, I left and, on my way home, I met some people carrying him to the hospital but I believe at that time he had died. So, we stopped a tricycle and we rushed him to the hospital.”

Umar Mohammed said though he was sad over the incident, he had to accept it as destiny saying that he had no problems with the father of the suspect but he had been living in peace with him.

According to him: “Honestly, I was not happy at all, I was very sad when I heard the news. My mind was really troubled but I accepted it as destiny. The boy who committed this act is my son’s close friend until the misunderstanding happened between them.”

On her own, the mother of the deceased, Fatima, said that she left her son at home and went to his friend’s house in order to apologize to him over what her son did to him because of the peaceful coexistence between us.

She said: “When I got there, I met the mother of Abubabakar and I started apologizing to her when her son came back into the house. I then apologized to him to be patient with my son and forgive him.

The shocking mother added that “He told me that he had addressed my son to the extent that he will not try what he did again, even if he was asked to do it. As soon as I left their house to go back home, I met my neighbour’s son who told me that my son, Babangida, had been stabbed. I ran back home but honestly, I was not seeing clearly because of the shock, it was my neighbour’s son that led me to our house.”
