OSUN WILL GET $20M FOR HEALTH CARE – Adewole
– Adewole
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, on Wednesday, said $20m would be disbursed to the Osun State Government to fix its health care facilities.
Adewole, who said this while receiving the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, in his office in Abuja, noted that the money was the earning of the state from the World Bank-supported Saving One Million Lives programme.
Oyetola, who is the chairman of the committee on health care which he constituted immediately after his inauguration, said he took charge of the committee to ensure that the 332 primary health care centres go into full operation within the shortest possible time.
He added that the money that would be disbursed would be used to fix 332 out of the over 900 PHCs in the state.
The governor added that it would be on the basis of one PHC per ward, so as to bring health care to the doorsteps of the people at the grass-roots level.
He said, “I am prioritising the health care sector because a healthy state is a wealthy state and that is why health care and education are critical indices of the human capital development.”
