The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Chinedu Anyanwu, for allegedly killing Ugonna Ukaegbu, aged 24, of 46 School Road in Owerri over cult-related activity.

The state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, disclosed that the victim was murdered on May 26, 2016, at Okwu Urratta in the Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.

According to the police boss, the detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command arrested Anyanwu.

He disclosed that investigation revealed that the suspect was a member of Black Movement of Africa secret cult, Aka Black Axe.

“In the course of investigation, some suspects were arrested while others fled.

“On August 15,2018,acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested the suspect who has been at large in connection with the murder of the victim.

“The suspect further confessed that the victim was murdered in revenge for the attack on him.”

Galadanchi, who condemned the killing, said the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
