SDP screens Omisore, cleared ahead gov primary election
The national secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in Abuja, has screened and cleared Senator Iyiola Omisore as the party’s governorship aspirant ahead of the July 18 governorship election in Osun State.
The seven-man panel chaired by the party’s deputy national chairman, Dr Abdul Ahmed Isiaq, on Friday, screened Omisore, a former deputy governor of Osun State, and passed him for fulfilling the party’s requirements qualifying him to represent the party in a governorship election.
Joined by other screening committee members which included Chief Supo Sonibare, deputy national secretary, Engr S. A. Adesina, secretary of national steering committee, Dr Ike Neliaku, Dr Olu Agunloye, among others, Isaiq reassured of the party’s commitment towards a free and fair governorship primary election in Osun State.
Senator Omisore, who had, on Friday, June 21, at SDP headquarters in Abuja, collected his expression of interest and nomination form to contest as the party’s candidate in the September 22 governorship election, thanked the SDP leadership for its thoroughness, fair judgement and unalloyed interest in the party’s progress.
Omisore, a former Senate committee chairman on appropriation, also expressed confidence in winning the party’s ticket and recording victory for SDP in the Osun State governorship election.
“The SDP is a party that believes in a balanced, equitable and truly functional Nigeria, hence, with the support of my followers, and Osun electorate, by God’s grace, I will be elected as the executive governor of Osun state on September 22,” Omisore said.
