Senator Babajide Omoworare, representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, on Wednesday, joined Osun governorship race, saying he possessed the required qualities to provide good governance in the state.

Making his declaration to contest September 22 gubernatorial poll in the state at the secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC), located along Gbongan-Ibadan expressway, he contended that with his rich political experienced, he is better placed to succeed Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Omoworare, who promised to give priority to security, health and education if elected as the governor of the state maintained that Aregbesola had laid the infrastructural foundation for the effective development of Osun State.

While vowing to judiciously utilise available resources in the state by reducing dependence on monthly allocation from the Federation Account, the lawmaker hinted that he would explore means to increase Osun Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) without inflicting economic hardship on the residents of the state.

In his remark, the chairman of the APC in Osun, Mr Gboyega Famoodun assured that the party would conduct a free, fair and credible primary election where the flag bearer of the ruling party would emerge among the governorship aspirants.
