Madman hacks 2 pupils to death in Ogun
Confusion enveloped residents of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State when a suspected mentally deranged man, yesterday, hacked two pupils of Saint John’s Anglican Primary School, Agodo, in the area to death.
Vanguard gathered that the suspect, identified as Lekan Adebisi, reportedly stormed the school at 11:15a.m. during the lunch break. It was further gathered that Lekan emerged from a nearby bush and attacked some pupils who were playing in the school field.
In the ensuing melee, four-year-olds male pupils who were reportedly in kindergarten class— Mubarak Kalesowo and Sunday Obituyi— were hacked down. Eyewitnesses said immediately he committed the crime, the suspect fled the scene. Sources close to the school said it has a perimeter fence, but lacked gates.
Vanguard gathered that following the incident, parents and guardians thronged the school to withdraw their wards, while security agents battled to unravel the mystery behind the tragedy.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with Vanguard.
Oyeyemi said the Police were on the trail of the suspect and will get him arrested as soon as possible. He disclosed that security operatives led by the Area Commander and Divisional Police Officer, Abigi had already been deployed to the area to fish out the suspect.
He said: “The incident happened at 11:15a.m. during lunch break. They (pupils) were in the field playing. “The guy (suspect) just emerged from the bush and hacked two of them to death and immediately after ran away. “Those who know him (suspect) said he is a madman and also an indigene of that place.”
