CRIME PREVENTION AND CONTROL:
Police radio service takes off in 2018
The Nigeria Police Force has inaugurated a radio broadcasting service as part of plans to enhance communication with the grassroots and ‘combat crime across the country.’
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Police Broadcasting Service, Edirin Wesley, said the radio, which would take off in 2018, would address “ugly incidences of crime across the country.”
Wesley explained in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, that the NPBS would provide general security information on air, land and sea, noting that policing and national security would be its primary focus.
He said, “The NPBS has a whole package on crime reportage and emergency response such as the NPBS Television, NPBS Radio, NPBS Online, including the Emergency Command and Control Communication Centre.
The Nigeria Police Communication outfit would be replicated across the length and breadth of Nigeria and it would assist in tackling crime in the nation.”
