Police nab suspected ritualist in Ogun with baby’s corpse

The Ogun State Police command has arrested a suspected ritualist with the corpse of a baby.

The suspect, 42-year-old Ajiboye Olusola, was reported to have been arrested at Sapade motor park on Friday 22nd of December when he was about boarding a vehicle with the corpse of the baby concealed in a polythene bag.

The police reported that it was the odour coming out of the bag that aroused the suspicion of people in the motor park who quickly alerted the police at Isara division.

The Isara DPO,  Yusuf Taiwo, led policemen to the scene after the matter was reported and the suspect was promptly arrested.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that policemen swooped on the suspect and searched the bag,  it was discovered that a dead baby was concealed inside.

He said, “On interrogation, the suspect claimed that he was coming from Offa in Kwara state heading to Lagos where he intended to bury the baby.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police,  Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the sate Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta, for proper investigation.
