PASSENGERS ESCAPE DEATH AS TANKER RAM INTO BUS IN OSOGBO
The passengers inside a commercial bus on Odi Olowo Street, Osogbo, Osun State, on Monday escaped being crushed to death after a driver of a petrol tanker lost control and rammed the tanker into the bus.
Our correspondent, who was at the scene of the accident, observed that the tanker, which was coming towards Ola Iya Junction from Odi Olowo Street lost control, ran over the kerb and crossed to the other side of the road before hitting the bus, which was discharging some of its passengers.
The truck had first hit and broke an electric pole on its path, but before it could get to the bus, the few passengers remaining jumped out of the bus.
Similarly, pedestrians and shop owners fled on seeing that the tanker had lost control.
No life was lost and nobody was injured in the accident which occurred at about 12pm.
The driver of the truck burst into tears on seeing the damage, adding that he manoeuvred the truck to avoid crushing vehicles in a queue caused by traffic light.
The driver, who spoke in Yoruba, explained that the truck had brake failure.
