Lasun Yusuf’s Political Dilemma:
Reason Osun APC Is Against His Return To House Of Reps
+ His Dream Of Becoming Osun Governor
For deputy speaker of the house of representatives; Honourable Yusuf Sulaimon Lasun, it’s been one trouble or the other for him since he was elected as the house of reps member representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu federal constituency of Osun state on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Born October 4th 1960, a mechanical engineer by profession, Lasun Yusuf as he’s fondly called became a subject of debate when he ditched his APC caucus loyal to Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila and pitched his tent with the present speaker; Honorable Yakubu Dogara.
Although, this act of his was seen by many people as an act of betrayal, he was richly rewarded by the Dogara caucus as he was appointed as the deputy speaker.
This incident we learnt pitched him against many APC power brokers in the south Western part of Nigeria especially the state he represents; Osun.
The state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola is said to have felt betrayed by Lasun because Gbajabiamila happens to be the nominee of his godfather; Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Lasun, who Aregbesola believes has his ears in the house of reps decided to follow another caucus at the expense of not only the south west APC but the entire Yorubaland.
As such different stakeholders in APC were said to have come together and agreed that 2019 will be the proper payback time for Lasun as the chances of him being represented by his party for house of reps come 2019 are slim.
While the dust raised by that is yet to settle down, Lasun was said to have come up with another controversy claiming that the leadership of APC in Osun state is planning to kill him!
His claim is hinged on the premise that since the rumour that he wants to contest the 2018 governorship election has gone to town, his life has been under serious threat.
Although the APC in Osun state has refuted the claim, as it appears, Lasun still maintains his stand.
On his ambition of ruling Osun state next year, political watchers are already calling it a “tall dream”.
We were told that Lasun and the present deputy governor of the state; Otunba Titi Laoye-Tomori come from the same federal constituency which has already produced the deputy governor who owns a joint ticket with the incumbent governor, a native of Ilesa.
So it’s the turn of other people from other parts of the state to occupy the number 1 and number 2 seats of the state respectively.
Sensing the sensitivity of this zoning arrangement, OSUN CITIZEN was reliably informed that Lasun who hails from Ilobu is now claiming to be a native of a village close to Iragberi in the state. A calculation that many people have adjudged dead on arrival.
It is only a matter of time for events to unfold as 2018 draws closer and the governorship campaign warms up in Osun state.
