FATIMA DALHA: 18-YEAR-OLD WIFE STABS HUSBAND OVER MONEY, PHONE IN BAUCHI

The Bauchi State Police Command says it is doing everything possible to unravel how a domestic dispute over wrappers, a phone and some money turned violent, nearly costing a young man his life. The items were reportedly claimed by his wife, Nigerian Tribune reports.
According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, “On 25th October, 2026, at about 0600hrs, what started as a heated argument between husband and wife in Lirr Bajar, Dass LGA, turned bloody.”
He narrated that “Fatima Dalha, just 18 years old, confronted her 30-year-old husband, demanding her money, wrappers and phone, which she said were in his possession. Words failed. Tempers flared. The argument turned into a physical fight.”
“In a moment of rage and desperation, Fatima reached for a knife lying close by and stabbed her husband in the stomach. The husband fell, bleeding. The neighbourhood erupted. An angry mob gathered, ready to lynch the young woman,” he added.
Police operatives from the Dass Division rushed to the scene and rescued her from possible mob violence before taking the wounded husband to a hospital, where he is receiving treatment and fighting to survive.
Nafiu Habib wrote, “Behind the uniform, behind the case file, are two young lives, a marriage of barely months, now shattered by anger that could have been resolved with words.”
He disclosed that the suspect had been detained, the knife recovered, and the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for discreet investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over the rising cases of domestic violence among young couples.
“A moment of anger can destroy two lives forever. We urge couples to seek peaceful means through family, elders and lawful channels instead of resorting to violence,” the CP advised.
He warned against jungle justice and reiterated the Command’s resolve to ensure that justice is served professionally and humanely.
