SC AMINA MUSA KOLAWALE: KANO NSCDC REMOVES DIVISIONAL OFFICER AFTER SUSPECT DIES IN CUSTODY

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has removed the Divisional Officer in charge of its Fagge Division following the death of a suspect in custody, Nigerian Tribune reports.

The command also handed over the divisional officer and all officers and men who were on duty at the time of the incident to the Kano State Police Command for further investigation and necessary action.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Kano, Ibrahim Abdullahi, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Kano.

However, the statement, said the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, approved the removal as part of measures to ensure a discreet, fair and transparent investigation into the incident.

“Following the sad incident in which a suspect lost his life at the Fagge divisional office and the subsequent setting up of a panel of inquiry for a discreet and fair investigation into the case, the State Commandant, NSCDC Kano State Command, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, has approved the removal of the Fagge Divisional Officer, SC Amina Musa Kolawale,” Abdullahi said.

He added that a new divisional officer, CSC Bashir Isa Abubakar, has been deployed to replace her.

The NSCDC appealed to members of the public to remain calm and maintain peaceful coexistence, assuring that the command is committed to upholding professionalism and accountability.

“The command reassures the general public of its continuous respect for the sanctity of life, human rights, professionalism, standard operating procedures, integrity and the rule of law,” the statement added.

Recall that the NSCDC had earlier constituted a committee to carry out a discreet and impartial investigation into the death of a volunteer supporting staff who died while in custody at the Fagge Divisional Office.
