SORDID ACCOUNT OF MURDER SUSPECT: HOW WE KILLED RETIRED ARMY GENERAL IN ABUJA

One of the four paraded suspects by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Aliyu Abdullahi, in connection with the killing of a retired Army General, Uwem Harold Udokwere, in Abuja, has disclosed how they killed the general, Nigerian Tribune reports.

Abdullahi disclosed this during the parade of criminal suspects by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, on Monday in Abuja.

He said, “We stabbed the general with a knife. We went to rob him, and we collected laptops and phones from him.”

“I was the one who killed him with a knife. I had two knives. I stabbed him in the stomach while another of my friends stabbed him on his shoulder.”

It would be recalled that Nigerian Tribune reported that the general was killed by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers who attacked his residence in Sunshine Homes Estate, in the nation’s capital, Abuja, around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning.

While parading the suspects, Igweh narrated how operatives of the FCT Police Command were able to trail and arrest the suspects.

He said: “On June 23, 2024, at about 4:00 p.m., acting on credible intelligence, police operatives of the FCT Police Command from Utako Division, led by CSP Victor Godfrey, trailed and arrested four suspects:

– Ibrahim Rabiu, 33 years old, male, of Rasha, Apo

– Nafiu Jamil, 33 years old, male, of Apo Pantaker

– Aliyu Abdullahi, 47 years old, male, of Apo

– Mohammed Nuhu, 28 years old, male, of Apo Primary

“They are responsible for attacking, robbing, and killing Brigadier General Uwen Harold Udokwere (rtd.) on June 22, 2024, at his residence in Sunshine Homes Estate in Kabusa.”

“The suspects, who confessed to the crime, stabbed the General when he tried to resist them with his pistols. The knife used in committing the crime was recovered, and the deceased’s stolen phone was equally recovered.”

“Effort is on top gear to arrest other fleeing suspects and to recover the pistols taken away from the deceased. The suspects will be charged to court at the end of the investigation.”
