A mob on Wednesday night beat a man to death for allegedly killing his friend over suspicion the latter was sleeping with his lover.
The Nation gathered that the incident occurred at a party in Mafoluku, Oshodi around midnight.
It was learnt that they were drinking when Segun Afuye suddenly stabbed his friend, Sodiq Elewure with a bottle on the neck.
Sources told The Nation that Elewure died on the spot after losing too much blood from the deep cut.
His death was said to have angered people around who descended on Afuye and beat him to a pulp.
It was gathered that it took the intervention of policemen from Makinde Division to rescue Afuye from the mob, although he was already lifeless at the time.
He was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital where he later passed on.
Confirming the incident, police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the investigation had commenced into the matter.
He urged residents to desist from taking laws into their hands, reminding them it was a crime, and those found culpable would go in for it.
