OSUN: TEENAGER FLEES AFTER ALLEGEDLY STABBING ELDER SIBLING TO DEATH

There was confusion at the Ifedapo area of Modakeke town in Osun State when a man Lekan Odetayo allegedly stabbed his 21-year-old elder brother Toheeb Odetayo to death and fled home, The Nation Newspaper reports.

It was gathered that the incident happened in their parent’s house when Lekan, an 18-year-old, was directed by his elder brother, Toheeb to run an errand for him around 9 pm.

Lekan reportedly shrugged at the directive, which infuriated Toheeb.

In a bid to enforce the directive, he shouted at his younger brother and threatened to beat him, it was gathered.

Lekan dared his brother, resulting in a brawl between the two.

It was gathered that Lekan was angered after his elder brother punched him.

He went to the kitchen, picked a knife and stabbed Toheeb in his neck.

It was learnt Lekan fled the scene after his brother dropped dead.

A neighbour, who does not want to be named, said: “Lekan fled the scene to escape being lynched.”

“When the father saw what happened, he went to the police station to report the case. The police came to the house to evacuate the remains of Toheeb.”

Police spokesperson, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident to THE NATION.

“One Muritala Odetayo reported the case to the police and we visited the scene. We recovered a kitchen knife with blood stain and also deposit the corpse of the victim to the morgue of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.”

She assured that effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.
