OGUN: COUPLE ARRESTED FOR STEALING N18M GLOBACOM MAST DIESEL

A man, Adeniyi Stephen, and his wife, Adetola Adeyinka, and one Ojo Sulaimon have been caught while allegedly stealing diesel from the mast of a telecommunication firm, Globacom, Punch Newspaper reports.

The couple and Sulaimon were arrested by operatives of Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday in the Agosasa area of the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects reportedly stole 32,651 litres of diesel valued at N8,162,750m.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this on Thursday in a statement.

Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested following a complaint lodged at the Ipokia division by one Joseph Ekanem.

According to him, Ekanem told the policemen that some people had been coming with a car marked, BNS 261 AAA, to steal diesel from the mast in Agosasa.

He said, “The DPO of the Ipokia division, SP Adebayo Akeem, immediately detailed his men to launch an investigation into the case with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.”

“The investigation led to the impounding of the vehicle which subsequently led to the arrest of the three suspects.”

“They confessed to the crime. They also confessed to have stolen 32,651 litres of diesel valued at N8,162,750m.”

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Adeniyi Stephen is a staff member of the company and the mastermind of the operation.”

The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered that the suspects be charged to court as soon as the investigation was concluded
