A sexagenarian, Hunsu Sunday, has been arrested in Ogun state for allegedly defiling and impregnating his 15–year- old granddaughter, The Nation Newspaper reports.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday following a complaint at Ado- Odo Divisional Headquarters by aunt of the victim, who reported the victim has been living with her grandfather since the demise of her mother.

She further told police the victim informed her that her grandfather has being sexually abusing her for quite some time and she has been feeling strange afterwards.

The Divisional Police Officer for Ado-Odo, Michael Arowojeun, sent detectives and arrested the grandfather.

Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed these on Friday, said the grandfather had admitted committing the crime but denied knowledge of the pregnancy.

Abimbola, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the victim has been taken to hospital for medical treatment while the suspect will be transferred to the anti -human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) on the instruction of the Commissioner for Police, Edward Ajogun,  for further investigation and prosecution.
