MY HUSBAND SLEEPS WITH OUR HOUSEMAID, RUNS AFTER MY FRIENDS, WOMAN TELLS COURT

A ten-year-old marriage was dissolved at a customary court in Igando, Lagos State after a 36-year-old woman, Florence Nduka-Nyasi, alleged that her husband, Stanley Nduka-Nyasi, threatened her life with poison but he did not succeed.

She also told the court that her husband no longer loved her, beats her at any slight provocation and had been calling her a prostitute in public.

Mrs Nduka-Nyasi also accused the husband of womanizing, saying that apart from following women around, she once caught him sleeping with their housemaid and was fond of wooing her friends. The petitioner also stressed that her husband no longer took care of his responsibility as a father to their children.

The defendant, however, denied all allegations and, in turn, accused his wife of adultery, claiming that her lover bought a car for her.

“In early 2017, she came home with a car worth one million Naira. When I asked her where she got the car, she claimed she bought it with her money, which I knew she could not afford with her foodstuff trading”.

Nduka-Nyasi stated that his wife packed out of their matrimonial home in 2017 without his knowledge.  “I called her severally but she refused to pick my calls. When I called the family, they told me they were aware of her packing”, the husband told the court.  “She eventually picked the call in January 2018 telling me that our last child that was delivered in May 201, was not mine but for her lover whom I had met once when he came to congratulate her for safe delivery. “Meanwhile, she told me he was her business associate when I asked her then and she is currently living with him”.

The husband said that contrary to the wife’s allegation, he was providing food and paying the children’s school fees.

On the allegation of beating her, he said it only happened once when she stabbed him with a broken bottle on the head.

The respondent told the court to grant his wife’s wish for the dissolution of their marriage, saying that her claim of no more love was true.

The court President, Mr. Akin Akinniyi, granted them their wish. The court ruled that the husband should provide the wife N15,000 for the upkeep of the three children every month and be responsible for their school fees.

It ordered that the wife should return the bride price paid on the wife within 30 days of the judgement.
