Court Remands Man In Ilesa Prison For Allegedly Killing His Police Officers’ Wife

courtA Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital, has ordered that a 41-year-old man, identified as Abiodun Akeem Oladebo be remanded in Ilesa prison custody for allegedly killing his wife, who was a police officer, Mrs Opeyemi Ojo.

The alleged murder suspect was said to have perpetrated the act on the 25th of February, 2018 around 5.00 pm in Osogbo

According to Police Prosecutor, Inspector Tajudeen Mustapha, Oladebo allegedly hit his late wife’s head against the wall severally during a scuffle, which eventually led to the death of the victim.

He argued that the offence committed by the accused was contrary to and punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Volume 11, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

Though Oladebo was represented in court by his defence counsel, Mrs B. Y Dada, his plea was not taken due to the magnitude of the one-count charge of murder levelled against him.

Subsequently, presiding Magistrate A. O. Ajanaku ruled that the accused be remanded in Ilesa prison custody, just as she directed that the duplicate of the case file be forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

However, she adjourned the case to 9th of May, 2018 for mentioning.
