A 13-year-old girl, simply identified as Ebube, has been run over by a truck on Abuja- Lokoja road.
A witness said the incident happened at about 4:12p.m. on Sunday evening when the girl was crossing the road.
He said the truck driver fled after crushing the girl, saying a motorist mobilized four youths who entered the vehicle and later apprehended the driver at Aseni village.
“The trucker was at last flagged down at Aseni village after some police men at Chikara police station were alerted,” he said.
He said the truck was impounded at Chikara police station, while the driver was handed over to the police at Abaji.
Our reporter learnt that the remains of the girl have been deposited at Abaji General Hospital morgue and would be taken to the eastern part of the country for burial by the family.
When contacted, the Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP David Kolo, said he was in Abuja when he received a call that there was an accident and he directed his men to go to the scene.
“But as I am talking to you right now, I am yet to get the details from my men, until when I get to the station,” he said.
