Aregbesola’s Plans To Succeed Jide Omoworare As Senator Representing Osun Ea‎st In 2019
Although before now, a section of the public has gone to town with the story that the governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who has barely two years to round off his second term in office is eyeing one of the senatorial districts in Lagos to become a senator in 2019, findings by OSUN CITIZEN have however proved otherwise.
While the promoters of the Lagos story are building their theories on the premise that Aregbesola is up till date one of the power brokers in Lagos having served as a commissioner for eight years under Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as his relationship with Tinubu‎.
Not only that, they hing their arguement on the fact that Aregbesola is one of the people that fought for the emergence of the victory of the ruling All Progressives Congres {APC} thereby making him one of the most influential party members today.
However, information at the disposal of OSUN CITIZEN reveals that Aregbesola has been showing interest in the Osun East senatorial slot of the senate come 2019.
Aregbesola will complete his term as governor in 2018, while the senate position is being held by Barrister Babajide Omoworare.
Politicians from Osun state who gave ‎this information to OSUN CITIZEN explained that a native of Ile Ife in the person of Engineer Iyiola Omisore occupied the position for eight years before Omoworare who is also running a second term, meaning in 2019, he would have concluded complete eight years just like his kinsman, Omisore.
Meanwhile, Osun East senatorial district also known as Ife Ijesa senatorial district is always rotated between people from Ile – Ife and Ijesa kingdom as a whole.
With the way things are, the people from Ilesa and by extension the entire Ijesa kingdom are having a upper hand in 2019 as Ile Ife people have already spent a total of fourteen years and two more years to go.
Except there’s a change of mind, Aregbesola is said to be the strongest contender for this post from APC and some politicians in the state are already perfecting the arrangement as campaign for 2019 general election in Nigeria builds up.
