Who Will Rescue Osun PDP… As Omisore Romances APC.
It is no longer news that the centre can no longer hold for the main opposition party in Osun state, the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP}. Before and after it lost to the incumbent, All Progressive Congress {APC} at the state, local and federal government level, it has been one crises or the other. You will recall that PDP lost its key members like two former governors of the state, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke, and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola who is the immediate past governor of the state to APC shortly before the 2014 governorship election in the state which produced the incumbent, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.
From then, all through the election and up till now, it has been from bad to worse. Many people were not surprised then when recently, a faction of the PDP said it has suspended it’s chairman, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa while another faction claim it has suspended the flag bearer of the party in the 2014 governorship election, Senator Iyiola Omisore. As this crises rages on, nobody is sure of where it’s leading the party to. A lot of watchers of political events in the state as well as in the country have however been suspecting the recent closeness between Omisore and the APC in the state.
Gists have it that Omisore has been paying nocturnal visits to key APC members in Osun state, especially his former boss who happens to be the national interim chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande. While some people are of the opinion that Omisore is left with no choice than to pitch his tent with the ruling party in the country because of his running battle with the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission {EFCC} as a result of his involvement in the Dasukigate, others are saying he is just trying to play safe and sit on the fence as there’s no formidable force that can combat the APC in the state.
No matter what the case may be however, it has become a big cause of concern for many as there seem not to be anybody that will rescue this party which once held sway as the ruling party in the state for close to eight years.
